Blurred out rockin' That's usually the way it feels to play onstage - everything goes out of focus and it becomes a blur. An exercise in vaporizing one's own molecules until they disperse, powered by the solar wind coming out of the amplifiers and drums. This summer has been a blur, too. We've all made some time to go to the swimming hole, fishing hole and the dump, which is kind of a hole as well. Our booking schedule has looked like a BLACK HOLE, but that's about to change. The Underlings are playing a secret party in Eugene this weekend, located somewhere near Willamette st and &th ave, so if you hear us blasting, poke your head in. I think the rocking will take place around 7-9 pm, so just wander around listening and I'm sure you'll find us - there are only so many blocks in Eugene. ENJOY what's left of the summer, we hope to see you at a venue in Eugene or Portland sometime during the months of September and Rocktober. Ta-ta for now,

P.S. here's a band we played with a few weeks back, they were really cool - the Tom Price Desert Classic, from Seattle:

We've been looking forward to this show for awhile. Sans is Dan Mclure from Fasters, Eric Jensen from Pellet Gun and Humper Dave from Los Mex Pistols Del Norte, tearin' it up with an open, chimey rock-band sound. The last time I saw them, I thought they had the same sonic quality as the Who. Homemakers is Tina's band, and she'll be celebrating a birthday that night. The embody a raw, poppy, Neil-Young-meets-Dinosaur Jr.-sound. And of course, the Soothesayers need no introduction, but here's a cool video I took of them at a Salon party at Don Baby's a few years back:

The wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'

Heck, we had such a good time in Longview a few weeks back. We went up with our friends the Decliners to play a show at the Chinese garden with some cool bands - the Muddy River Nightmare Band and Minty Rosa, both rockin' punk bands. MRNB was a real denim-garage-punk act and their songs and playing were spot-on. Minty Rosa had kind of an 80's punk gnarl, with a great vocalist and a pummeling band. Kinda pop, kinda butt-rock punk. Can't wait to see them again sometime. Coming up May 25th, we are scheduled to blow the roof off of Katie O' Brien's with our friends, the Connies, from NorCal, and the Ransom and a band I'm stoked to see and hear, the Small Arms. Music starts right around 9. I hope to see some faces down there. Katie's is one of our favorite places to play and we hope to rock it, but we need your help. Offer your presence and we will rock all the harder. WOCKA WOCKA WOCKA!!

We are totally stoked to be playing with our friends the Soothesayers and the true Rock n Roll heroes of the Northwest, Pierced Arrows. We rocked this same line-up last year at Sam Bond's and it was a magic night. Look forward to kickin' out the jams to some true-grit rock and garage bands. We intend to bring the hammer down that night in honor and homage to all the Rock and Roll gods that have paved the way before us - Phil Lynott, Bonn Scott and Peter Laughner among them. Yours in rock -Underlings

the Road Ahead

Check...check...one, two - is this thing on? Holy smokes! Another year, rolling out ahead of us. We have sat back, assessed our accomplishments thus far, counted the vast sums of money laid at our feet by the hands of others and decided...that it is time to book some more shows. Our good friends the Soothesayers went ahead and added us onto a couple of great ones - Pierced Arrows, Soothesayers and us at Luckeys, March 16th and then again we appear with the mighty Soothesayers at Sam Bond's Garage March 30th. We are bustin' out our rolodexes and phone books, trying our darnedest to break into some more clubs in Portland and beyond, so stay tuned for more Underlings action in 2013. In the meantime, if you want to support our brand of RAWK, do yourself and us a favor and buy our freakin' CD, EDGY, HERE. Thanks and happy end-of-January to ya'll.
